Supporting returners: our partnership with The Return Hub

We were delighted to have started work in 2017 with The Return Hub, initially seeking an additional member of our Investor Forum team. We were looking for someone who could bring energy and experience to a new role within a  “start-up”  business – The Investor Forum, part of our Corporate & Institutional Broking division that seeks to build partnerships between professional investors and early stage growth companies.

The Return Hub specialise in connecting employers like us, with financial services professionals who have been on a career break and helped us find a candidate with transferable expertise and knowledge as well as a keenness to return to work in a ‘City’ role.

Michelle joined our Investor Forum team, having taken some time out with family, and then working in a local financial services firm for a couple of years before seeking a more challenging role. She works closely with the Head of Investor Forum, Lorraine who she credits with giving invaluable support and advice to utilise and develop her existing skills for the role. A tight job description and objectives have provided clear parameters which help support part time flexible working.  One challenge of this was potentially managing the expectations of both colleagues and clients as to availability, however this hasn’t proved problematic. As a business we have worked to ensure that those working part time aren’t considered to be taking their roles less seriously, or be less focused on the business goals, We are working on continued awareness amongst the wider team as to the benefits of flexible working and how diversity of employees can be such a benefit for everyone.
