In a further step to build its wealth management business in Manchester and the North West, WHIreland today announces the appointment of Phillip Sidebottom as a Chartered Wealth Planner. Phillip, who joins from Coutts, will work closely with the Manchester Wealth Management Team, headed by Robert Race and report into Christy Morrison, Head of Wealth Planning.

WHIreland has had strong ties with Manchester, which is where the firm’s founder, William Henry Ireland, established his family-run stockbroking business. The appointment of Phillip comes at a time when the business is moving towards a greater focus on working with a broad range of clients with ever more complex financial planning needs .  This strategic decision is driven by the changes in pensions legislation, the increasing importance of Inheritance Tax planning as property values and personal assets have increased in the region and potential concerns over the impact of Brexit.

Commenting on Phillip’s appointment, Christy Morrison, Head of Wealth Planning said, “The appointment of Phillip continues our programme of development across the division and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing a superior level of service to clients. Phillip’s extensive experience in providing wealth planning together with his knowledge of Manchester will be beneficial to our many clients in the region.   We know that our clients hugely appreciate being looked after by a locally based team and we are firmly committed to continuing to deliver this level of service.”

Phillip joins WHIreland from Coutts, where he was a senior adviser to High Net Worth individuals and families having previously held a similar role at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management in Manchester. Phillip’s role will be to focus on developing WHIreland’s regional wealth planning offering in the North West and he will take responsibility for building long term relationships with their clients and family members

Phillip Sidebottom added, “I am excited by the opportunities that joining WHIreland at this juncture in the company’s growth will offer. WHIreland Wealth Planning is known for its independent, professional and client focused ethos and I look forward to working closely with both our wealth management team, and our clients to assist them with meeting their financial planning goals.”
