Corporate Social Responsibility

We consider it essential that all staff within businesses are accountable for their actions and have a Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) policy that applies throughout the WHIreland Group of companies (“the Group”).

CSR refers to a company’s sense of responsibility towards the community and environment in which it operates. It is the process of assessing a company’s impact on society and evaluating their responsibilities.

We are committed to carrying out our operations in a socially responsible manner when dealing with all our range of stakeholders and to reporting and communicating openly on its response to CSR issues.

Our Policy sets out our responsibilities to our People, Our Environment, Community and our Business Integrity.

We are proud to support a number of cultural initiatives across the country, as we firmly believe in the benefits of high quality cultural programmes, particularly those which are for the benefit of young people.

At WHIreland, we want to forge partnerships with organisations that share our beliefs and it is important that we play our part in the communities in which we live and work. By doing so, we have a unique opportunity to focus our corporate social responsibilities on projects that benefit our society, heritage and culture.

Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke will be receiving the continued support of WHIreland Wealth Management in 2019 as he competes in the prestigious British GT Championship behind the wheel of a Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4. Gordon-Colebrooke and WHIreland Wealth Management started their partnership last year as the Buckinghamshire racer competed in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup and they are continuing their association as he moves into one of the world’s foremost domestic GT series. We are proud to support and sponsor our colleagues in their charitable activities. Congratulations to David Bushe, Head of Investment at WHIreland International Wealth, who successfully completed the London Marathon. Running on behalf of Hospice Isle of Man, David completed the event in just over 4 hours and raised £6,842 for Hospice along the way.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

For the third year in a row, we were delighted to support the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Celebration 1-2-5 Schools’ Concerts held in Poole on Wednesday 20 March 2019. These concerts are in a series of schools’ concerts that are being performed across the South West by the full Orchestra.

Craig Allison, Investment Manager and Head of Office at WHIreland Wealth Management in Poole commented: “We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with and support the BSO again, particularly in their anniversary year. These concerts are a fantastic way for young people to experience the excitement and emotion of live classical music – often for the first time – and for many, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a concert performance. At WHIreland, we are keen supporters of a number of high-quality arts and cultural initiatives across the country, particularly those which are for the benefit of young people and we and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the concert.”

We are proud to support a number of charitable organisation across the country. We firmly believe in the importance of playing our part in the communities in which we live and work and we are committed to supporting project that can benefit the society.

Throughout the past year, we were delighted to make a donation to Wood Street Mission, a children’s charity helping children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford. We have also made a donation towards a local community defibrillator in the area of Poole for local communities and residents.

In line with our ambition to bring in more motivated young people to the finance industry and support their development, we host work experience days at our London office for young adults aged between 16 and 22. This event gives our young attendees the opportunity to learn more from employees from across the business working in Wealth Management, Wealth Planning, Corporate & Institutional Broking, Compliance, Human Resources and Marketing. Each session gives them the opportunity to ask questions ranging from what qualifications they would need, to what a standard day in these roles entails.

The positive feedback received from the attendees over the years shows that the events are a great success and demonstrate how informative the attendees found the sessions, particularly around inspiring young people to make informed decisions on their future careers in financial services.

We are also proud to be supporting the Young Enterprise UK: Employability Skills for young people, encouraging them to develop skills needed in the workplace and achieve their career goals.
