Independent advice: what does it mean?

You might think that independent advice is the only option when it comes to choosing a financial adviser, however this is not always the case.

It is often the situation that financial advisers might be tied or restricted to recommending their own products. Other financial advisers may hold relationships with a single external provider, and may only make recommendations for their products. This type of advice is called restricted advice.

Independent vs restricted advice: the difference

Independent advisers

Restricted advisers

Consider and recommend a wide range of retail investment products
Uses the term ‘independent’ to describe their advice
Are unbiased with their advice

What type of advice does WH Ireland offer?

  • We offer independent advice for Retail Investment Products
  • We have no Retail Investment Products of our own which means we will search the whole of the market for the most suitable solution for your needs.
